Swedish video game programmer Markus Persson, better known as “Notch” and as the creator of the popular Minecraft video game, is the proud new owner of a stunning luxury home at 1181 North Hillcrest Road in Beverly Hills, California.
The price he paid for this architectural marvel in the world’s most famous 90210 zip code makes history, as not only did he edge out celebrity power couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z, he paid $70 million USD. This is the highest price ever paid for a Beverly Hills residence, with the purchase also including the furnishings and electronics inside.
The 8 bedroom, 15 bathroom, 23,500 sq. ft. luxury estate is sensational, equipped with its own vodka and tequila bars, a $200,000 candy room, an 18-seat tiered screening room, and an 18-foot onyx dining room table for 24 that includes place settings by Roberto Cavalli at a cost of $3,700 each. If that’s not enough, this home also comes with a 16-car garage, home gym, and a giant infinity pool overlooking the boundless cityscape of Los Angeles. Artwork in the home includes a replica of James Dean’s motorcycle and a chromed Ma Deuce machine gun.
This over-the-top house was originally listed by Ben Bacal Realty, as well as Branden Williams and Rayni Romito Williams of Williams & Williams, for a lofty $85 million. So for Persson, who sold his company Mojang to Microsoft for $2.5 billion this past September, beating Beyoncé and Jay-Z on the $70 million offer was no hard task. Sally Forster Jones and Katia De Los Reyes of John Aaroe Group represented Persson.
Incredible does not even begin to describe this extraordinary new state-of-the-art Beverly Hills property.
