Designed as an exclusive private residence with an extraordinary swimming pool and adjacent spa area on the upper floor as the centerpiece, this home takes spa-like living to a new level. This sensational luxury residence is located in Hahnwald, a district of the left bank of the Rhine in the south of Cologne, in the district of Rodenkirchen and in one of the most exclusive and expensive villa districts in Germany.
A personal sanctuary, the spaces of the upper level meld together with private rooms, while the open-plan living area is located on the ground floor. For the façade, natural stone clothing made from matt gray Vals quartzite was chosen. The striking look continues in the interior, where all the floors, bathrooms and the entire swimming pool area with the special natural stone are created. From this unified design, the remarkable spatial atmosphere and the characteristic, physical architectural language emerges.
The unique architecture is defined by an offsetting of the upper floor plate which provides visual momentum for the massive building and generates the desired terraces using the ensuing overhangs. The greatest challenge for construction was incorporating the swimming pool into the top floor without compromising the feeling of spaciousness. Flowing interiors and seamless room transitions, as well as the installation of an elevator, resulted in an accessible living area that is ultra-modern yet exquisitely sophisticated.
