What’s so special about Whistler Blackcomb?

Whistler Blackcomb, located 120 kilometres north of Vancouver, British Columbia, is the busiest ski resort on the continent of North America and is one of the most exciting to snowboard at. The whole resort is valued at over $1.69 billion dollars.

Whistler Blackcomb was home to a lot of the events during the 2010 Winter Olympics, and it has also hosted the Skiing World Cup 22 times.

Whistler Blackcomb offers over 200 different marked skiing and snowboarding runs throughout the year – so, you will never run out of courses to play around on. 50% of the runs at Whistler Blackcomb are Intermediate runs, with the other 50% being split evenly between beginner runs and expert runs.

The resort is happy to let snowboarders and skiers use the same runs.

At the start of 2018, the resort started two major lift projects which they predict will allow them to open even more marked runs for visitors.

Snowboards to take to Whistler Blackcomb

If you are about to visit Whistler Blackcomb for the first time, then check out the 5 amazing snowboards below that you should think about bringing with you.

1. CAPiTA Pathfinder Snowboard

If your game is getting the most bang for your buck and the best bargain – then look no further than the CAPiTA Pathfinder Snowboard.

This is the newest launch from CAPiTA, it’s less than 3 months old but this board has already got incredible reviews and we wouldn’t be surprised to see it picking up some awards this season.

While this board may be too blunt for a lot of experienced snowboarders, it is perfect for those of you who are looking to get to know snowboards and what they can do. On top of this, it is one of the best-priced boards on the market right now.

2. BURTON Family Tree 3D Deep Daze Snowboard

If you are a lover of snowboards then this board cannot be missed. It truly is a love letter to everything we love about the sport.

This board takes the concept of 3D board shaping to the next level. It comes with what BURTON calls Directional Shaping, Directional Tapering, Direction Flat Tops, and Directional Flex features.

What does all that mean? Well, what it means is that BURTON has used the latest technology to give you complete control over your board while still enjoying impressive levels of flexibility.

When you are on this board – the sky’s the limit, you can race, you can freestyle, and you can have fun.

3. HEAD Shine LYT Snowboard

We could stare at this stunning board all day.

This is a hybrid camber and rocker board that gives you the best of both worlds. This is a very rare Unisex board from HEAD, and we weren’t expecting it to work as amazingly as it does.

This is one of the lightest boards the company has produced. The lightness of the board offers it agility no other board in their range has, but you don’t have to compromise on the quality of the board – it won’t fall apart when you start going too fast down a Black Slope.

4. BATALEON  Disaster

This is the closest to an indestructible board we have ever seen. This board really is tough-as-nails (if the skulls on the bottom haven’t already helped you figure that out).

This board was built for freestyling – it performs well at any speed, is great for traveling quickly, and is for pulling off tricks. And it’s got just the right amount of flex to make you look good while you do all of that.

And, if you hit a few rocks on the way down, the only thing you will have to worry about is keeping your balance.

5. HEAD Shine LYT Snowboard

Our final suggestion is this gorgeous Shine LYT board from HEAD. This board comes with a Flex Index of 5 and is recommended for advanced snowboarders.

Ladies, if you want to hit the Black Slopes in style then pick yourself up the Shine LYT.
