Rolls-Royce Motors Cars, Variety Magazine, and Nintendo hosted The Variety Studio – Awards Edition at a private Rolls-Royce Villa situated in Beverly Hills, California above Sunset Blvd. with panoramic views across Los Angeles and out to the Pacific Ocean.
The exclusive invite only function hosted celebrity Golden Globe and Academy Award contenders and VIP guests over two days on Wednesday, November 28 and Thursday, November 29, 2012 during the start of the LA Auto Show. Celebrated actors, actresses, directors, and producers in the running for this year’s top Hollywood industry awards arrived for interviews with the editorial staff of Variety Magazine for their annual video series at the Sundance, Cannes, and Toronto Film Festivals.
Attendees had the opportunity to view the exclusive Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe Aviator at the event. This special edition luxury vehicle was previously only seen in North America at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance show. Arriving VIP guests and celebrities also had the opportunity to experience the new technology laden Rolls-Royce Ghost models and the enhanced Phantom Series II vehicles with test drives that were conducted upon request.
Actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead arrived on the first day of the event. Best known for her roles in the horror films Final Destination 3, Death Proof, The Thing, and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, her latest movie Smashed is coming to theatres on December 14, 2012.
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars CEO Torsten Muller-Oetvoes was on-hand at the exclusive event mingling with guests, celebrities, and VIP’s.
Elle Fanning, the younger sister of Dakota Fanning with starring roles in Phoebe in Wonderland, Somewhere, and We Bought a Zoo, attended the event and even posed for pictures with Torsten Muller-Oetvoes, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
Actress Kerry Washington, acclaimed for her roles as Ray Charles’s wife Della Bea Robinson in the film Ray, and Idi Amin’s wife Kay in The Last King of Scotland, took a particular interest in the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe Aviator.
The private invitation-only event included complimentary hospitality and the chance to observe Golden Globe nominees as they came in for interviews that Variety Magazine conducted for their Studios Series. Many of the celebrities stopped to chat with guests as they entered the villa and posed for pictures in front of the Rolls-Royce media backdrop.
Actress Leslie Mann was in attendance. The comedic actress starred opposite Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman in David Dobkin’s comedy, The Change-Up.
With the awards season in full swing, the Rolls-Royce and Variety Studio event brought together top actors and actresses of film and television to discuss their current projects.
Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella in the Twilight movie saga, was invited to attend The Variety Studio, raising expectations that she may be in contention for a nomination in one of the upcoming industry awards.
Nintendo was on-hand at the event giving guests an exclusive look at their first new home video game system released in the past six years, the newly released Wii U console. Guests at the event were able to try out the new system, using the innovative Wii U GamePad controller to play games like Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros. U, ZombiU, and Scribblenauts Unlimited.
Young actress Quvenzhane Wallis, who starred in 2012’s Beasts of the Southern Wild and has appeared on an episode of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, enjoyed playing several rounds of Takamaru’s Ninja Castle solo attraction in the Nintendo Land video game that comes free with the purchase of the Wii U Deluxe Set. Even actress Emayatzy Corinealdi enjoyed playing alongside Wallis on the Wii U in the Nintendo suite. She even participated in demonstrations of the new Wii U GamePad.
Attendees at the event that stopped by the Nintendo display discovered that the new Wii U console offers a completely new and unexpected entertainment experience with unique online interactions through their new Nintendo Network service. There were also several Nintendo 3DS handheld game systems for guests to test out and play with.
Guests and celebrities that attended The Variety Studio at the private RR Villa had an opportunity to meet with Rolls-Royce senior management including Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, David Archibald, President of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars North America, and Sabine Brown, General Manager of Marketing for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars North America.
The private Rolls-Royce Villa was located in an exclusive location situated high up in Beverly Hills with panoramic views of Los Angeles below. The magnificent venue was the perfect blend of indoor elegance and outdoor luxury with an impressive rear courtyard pool and a spacious rear deck that overlooked the city.
Many of the celebrities at the Beverly Hills Rolls-Royce Villa came out to enjoy the spectacular view overlooking Los Angeles. Actresses Kristen Stewart, Rosemarie DeWitt, Lorraine Toussaint, and Kerry Washington posed for pictures on the pool deck at the Rolls-Royce Villa for The Variety Studio event.
The Alzheimer’s Association was present at the event to raise awareness about the serious illness of dementia and promote their Purple #ENDALZ promotion to end Alzheimer’s.
The on-camera celebrity interviews for The Variety Studio were held in a separate portion of the Rolls-Royce Villa. They all chatted about their on-screen projects which are gaining buzz during awards season.

As the last interviews for The Variety Studio were concluded, the event wrapped up for the day. As they left, attendees had a final opportunity to view the Phantom Coupe Aviator Collection Car as well as speak with Rolls-Royce executives.
A multi-million dollar procession of Rolls-Royce Ghosts and Phantoms that were used at the event for display and private test-drives, greeted guests as they left.
