Success is often the product of navigating challenges and overcoming obstacles, no matter how threatening they are. Renowned Denver, CO, real estate professional Athena Brownson has been through some of the worst phases in her life but remains undeterred in her pursuit of excellence. Over the years, she has built a reputation for her unparalleled industry knowledge, local expertise, and experience in the real estate industry through her real estate practice with Compass.
Athena Brownson serves all real estate clients, from buyers to sellers to investors. She says, “Whether you’re buying or selling, I can help you get the best deal. Just looking? That’s OK. You’ll find what you need on my website, and if you want something different from what’s on there, reach out to me and let’s talk.” Athena Brownson has been a licensed REALTOR® since 2014 and found intense passion in helping her clients fulfill their real estate needs. She builds strong relationships and works with them to get started in the next phase of their lives, whether they are moving into a new property or moving out. “Being the support to help them get started in the next chapter of their life and beyond is an honor that I do not take lightly,” Athena said.
The journey to becoming the well-respected and reputable agent she is today did not happen without challenges and obstacles. As a former professional skier, she spent considerable time in and out of surgery between her career and achieving all the milestones she desired. However, when she got diagnosed with Lyme disease after suffering from a broken neck that would not heal for two years, she was thrown off balance and did not know what to expect. “When the results came back positive, my world was altered. I never expected to be diagnosed with Lyme disease or the other autoimmune diseases that decided to tag onto my diagnosis. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever faced, and it was completely new to me,” Athena revealed.
However, as she continued to manage the illness, she took real estate a little more seriously and formed her team of real estate agents, The Vesta Collective at Compass. She thrived and grew with their support and was able to navigate all the rigors of the real estate business effectively without any lapse. “What I realized through this illness is the true value of teamwork and working with agents who have similar work ethic and values. I would say I hit the jackpot when it comes to the most supportive, hardworking, and intelligent team that anyone could ask for. I’ve always had a tendency to be bullheaded, determined to go full steam ahead even if it ran me into the ground. Learning the value of a supportive team and how much can be accomplished by working together radically changed my life,” Athena said.
Today, she walks the real estate journey with her clients, advocating for their interests every step of the way. She’s also well-versed in building and interior design, thanks to her Bachelor of Arts in History and Interior Design, so she understands how to spot issues in properties and how to make properties stand out. She strongly believes that a home should be a safe haven for all and ensures her clients create and find their perfect spaces.
Athena is a member of the Denver Metro Association of REALTORS® and was awarded silver at the Denver Metro Association of REALTORS® Excellence Awards in 2019 and 2020. She’s a board member of 5280 Air Society, and her team donates $100 from each closing to a different nonprofit each month.
