Situated on the sloping eastern side of Paros, Hill House is an outstanding example of modern architectural design that harmonizes with its natural environment. Designed by Evripiotis Architects, the house is strategically positioned to follow the natural relief of the land, with volumes that capture sweeping views while providing protection from the elements. Its thoughtful layout creates a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces, with terraces, private courtyards, and guesthouses enhancing the experience of living close to nature. The extensive use of local materials such as stone and wood ensures that the structure feels integral to its surroundings while maintaining a contemporary aesthetic.
The composition suggests a staggered arrangement of primary volumes that follow the relief. The volumes turn towards the view. They create enclosed yards and terraces protected from strong winds. Public and private spaces intersect, gradually unfolding the floor plan. The main house includes a single living room, which is complemented by a terrace of equal size. The bedrooms are lined up on either side of the living room. The sequence of spaces is interrupted by two other courtyards, one on each side. These are laid out as accessible private gardens. Lower on the plot are two guesthouses, a swimming pool and an outdoor living area.
In terms of aesthetic and functional design, Hill House reflects a modern minimalism that places emphasis on simplicity and openness. The interiors are understated, serving as a backdrop to the vibrant natural setting outside. Open-plan living spaces encourage communal interaction while maintaining privacy through designated retreats. Outdoor areas, including the swimming pool and shaded terraces, extend the living space and invite residents to enjoy the surrounding environment throughout the year. Hill House sets a new benchmark for eco-conscious luxury, where innovative design meets environmental sensitivity, offering a vision for the future of residential living.
